An action novel about a northern gentleman, a union officer. he is incarcerated fro ten months in the confederate prison Andersonville during the Civil War. Upon release and after the war is over he turns bounty hunter. He is almost killed by two ex-confederate soldiers and a woman. Then he teams up with a Louisiana bayou man in search of the man's mother. This is a story full of colorful characters; a one-eyed gambler, crooked sheriff, boardinghouse mistress, a crooked banker, a senator,drummer, orphans and myriad others enhance the storyline to make this novel appealing to all readers.
